Ambassador of the United States to the Maldives, Michele J. ‎Sison, has paid her farewell call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul ‎Gayoom. The meeting was held on Tuesday morning at the President’s ‎Office.‎

At the meeting, President Yameen expressed his appreciation for ‎Ambassador Sison’s contribution in strengthening relations between the ‎Maldives and US, during her tenure as the Ambassador. ‎

The President and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations ‎between the two countries and ways to strengthen these ties. In this regard, ‎they explored avenues to further enhance the cooperation between the two ‎countries, especially in the areas of education, human development and ‎diplomacy. They also noted the importance of building people to people ‎relations between Maldives and USA.‎

Noting that the two countries have been able to deepen bilateral ‎relations during her tenure, Ambassador Sison said that it had been a ‎pleasure to serve the Maldives. She further commended the President’s ‎remarkable achievements during his first year in office.‎

President Yameen was joined at the call by Minister of Foreign ‎Affairs, Hon. Dunya Maumoon, Minister at the President’s Office, Hon. ‎Mohamed Hussain Shareef and the Foreign Secretary, Dr. Ali Naseer ‎Mohamed.‎
