President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, and Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed, have donated one month’s sum of their salary, to the Help Gaza fund, a local initiative to raise funds for those affected by Israeli aggression in Gaza, Palestine.
The President’s decision was announced by the Spokesperson at the President’s Office, Ibrahim Muaz Ali, on Saturday evening, at the ceremony held to present the Help Gaza souvenir t-shirt to the President. The ceremony was held as part of the Help Gaza telethon event organized by the Maldivian local media. The Spokesperson also said that First Lady Madam Fathimath Ibrahim, and members of the cabinet have made generous donations to the fund as well.
Vice President Jameel announced his decision to donate one month’s salary to the Help Gaza fund, on Saturday evening, while speaking on the live coverage show of the telethon. The Vice President and his spouse were also presented Help Gaza souvenir t-shirts on the show.
The Help Gaza telethon, organized by Maldivian local media, collected over MVR 20 million.
