The new High Commissioner of the Republic of Seychelles accredited to the Maldives, H.E. Waven William presented his letter of credence to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, this morning.
At the ceremony held at the President’s Office to present credentials, President Yameen congratulated the High Commissioner on his appointment.
Meeting the new High Commissioner after the ceremonial presentation of credentials, the President expressed his confidence that the Maldives-Seychelles relations would further strengthen during the tenure of High Commission William.
Underscoring that the Maldives and Seychelles share a number of common challenges and vulnerabilities as Small Island developing states, President Yameen and High Commissioner William explored avenues for further cooperation between the two countries.
The High Commissioner of Seychelles assured President Yameen of his commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between the Maldives and Seychelles.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dunya Maumoon and the Minister at the President’s Office, Hon. Mohamed Hussain Shareef.
