Ambassador of the United States to the Maldives Michele J. Sison ‎has paid a courtesy call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. The ‎meeting was held this morning at the President’s Office.‎

Discussions at the meeting were focused on the bilateral relations ‎‎between the Maldives and the United States, and on ways to further ‎‎enhance cooperation between both countries.‎

Noting that economic transformation was on top of his ‎Government’s ‎agenda, President Yameen shared with Ambassador Sison ‎the Government strategies to improve the country’s current economic ‎situation.‎

Ambassador Sison briefed the President on the ongoing and ‎planned US aided developmental programmes in the Maldives. Further, the ‎Ambassador reassured of US’s continuous support and cooperation to the ‎Maldives.‎

President Yameen was joined at the call by Minister of Foreign ‎Affairs, Hon. Dunya Maumoon, Minister at the President’s Office, Hon. ‎Mohamed Hussain Shareef and the Additional Secretary at the Ministry of ‎Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ali Naseer Mohamed.‎
