Ambassador of the United States to the Maldives Michele J. Sison has paid a courtesy call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. The meeting was held this morning at the President’s Office.
Discussions at the meeting were focused on the bilateral relations between the Maldives and the United States, and on ways to further enhance cooperation between both countries.
Noting that economic transformation was on top of his Government’s agenda, President Yameen shared with Ambassador Sison the Government strategies to improve the country’s current economic situation.
Ambassador Sison briefed the President on the ongoing and planned US aided developmental programmes in the Maldives. Further, the Ambassador reassured of US’s continuous support and cooperation to the Maldives.
President Yameen was joined at the call by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dunya Maumoon, Minister at the President’s Office, Hon. Mohamed Hussain Shareef and the Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ali Naseer Mohamed.
