President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has this afternoon departed to Singapore, to attend the Maldives investment forum to be held tomorrow. The President will inaugurate the forum organised by the Government of Maldives, in collaboration with the private sector, on Friday morning, 25th April 2014, at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands.
Prior to his departure, the President met with the local media at the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport, and said that this forum would be an opportunity to brief foreign investors on the present economic aspirations of the Maldives, as well as the mega projects envisioned for the future. About 200 representatives from 16 countries, apart from Singapore, would attend this forum, as well as a high number of Maldivian entrepreneurs.
The President noted that this was the first step taken towards a fresh start for the Maldives in today’s world economy.
