The new Egyptian Ambassador accredited to the Maldives, Mr. Mahmoud Hisham Mohamed Assra presented his letter of credence to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, this morning.
At the ceremony held at the President’s Office to present the credentials, President Yameen congratulated Ambassador Assra on the commencement of his term.
Meeting the new Ambassador after the ceremonial presentation of credentials, President Yameen expressed hope that the long- standing bilateral relations that exist between the two countries would further enhance during the tenure of Ambassador Assra.
President Yameen expressed his gratitude to the Egyptian Government for the continuous support being provided, especially in the area of education. In this regard, the President highlighted that a large number of scholars have been educated from the Al-Azhar University in Egypt.
