President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that the Parliament was the major stakeholder in realizing the developmental aspirations of the Government. The President made this remark while speaking to the people of Guraidhoo Island of Kolhumadulu Atoll, during his visit to the island this morning.
The President said that the role of the Parliament was to independently observe the Government, and to make it accountable, while being responsible themselves. He also said that the Parliament’s role was of great importance in facilitating the Government in delivering its services to the people.
In today’s speech, the President highlighted the grave state of the country’s health sector, and reiterated the Government’s commitment to the advancement of the health sector. He said that the Government would shortly announce its comprehensive plan to reform the healthcare system of the country.
Following his visit to Guraidhoo, President Yameen visited the Island of Veymandoo of Kolhumadulu Atoll. During his visit, the President assured the people of Veymandoo of the priority given by the Government to the development of the island.
