President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that application forms for fishermen’s insurance scheme will be issued starting 1st April 2014.
The President made this statement Friday evening, while addressing the rally held by PPM in Thinadhoo of South Huvadhu Atoll, to celebrate the ruling coalition’s victory in the Parliamentary Elections.
President Yameen said that, by the Grace of Almighty Allah, work on the MVR 10,000 insurance scheme for fishermen would be completed, and funds would be guaranteed for all local fishermen.
Addressing the rally, President Yameen stated that STO was engaged in discussions with relevant authorities in India, regarding the importation of oil for fishing vessels. He said that, by the Grace of Almighty Allah, the discussions would be concluded soon and the price of oil would drop within the next two months.
Highlighting the importance of the Parliament fulfilling its duties in the best manner, President Yameen said that work must be done within the Parliament to make itself accountable.
The President also stated that the Maldives will gain peace and stability only when the nation prospers economically, increasing youth employment opportunities, and by ensuring the youth are productive and responsible citizens.
Further, President Yameen said that his Government was one which would work loyally in the best interests of the youth, and acknowledge their endeavours for national development.
