President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that rebranding the resorts operated under Sun Travel to The Sun Siyam would allow for a wider range of improved services in the hospitality industry. The President made this remark while speaking at the unveiling of The Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, the first resort rebranded under The Sun Siyam. At the ceremony, the President hoisted the national flag, and the Chairman of The Sun Siyam, Hon. Ahmed Siyam Mohamed hoisted the company flag.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President congratulated Hon. Ahmed Siyam Mohamed for his endurance and commitment, and for believing in himself in taking on the endeavour. He said that Hon. Ahmed Siyam Mohamed started out in the industry very small, and has today proven that relentless determination was always fruitful.
The President emphasized the importance of tourism in the country's development, and noted that his vision was to enhance benefits of tourism for the youth. He urged the youth to take encouragement from Hon. Siyam's example and venture into entrepreneurship. He added that, through perseverance, dedication and discipline, the youth of the Maldives could scale such heights of success.
In his remarks, President Yameen also highlighted the importance of continued improvements and innovation in the service industry, in a highly competitive business environment. He urged industry representatives to ensure that the Maldives maintained its position at the very top of the worldwide hospitality industry.
