Assistant Administrator and Director of Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific of UNDP pays courtesy call on the President

Assistant Administrator and Director of Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific of the UNDP, Mr. Haoling Xu has paid a courtesy call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

At the meeting held at the President’s Office this morning, discussions were held on the wide array of projects being undertaken in the Maldives by the UNDP. President Yameen and Mr. Xu discussed extensively on the priority areas of the government.

The President noted that youth empowerment was one of the most important policies of this Government, and discussed ways that UNDP could provide assistance in achieving the Government’s goals in the area.

The UNDP Assistant Administrator briefed the President on community based projects planned for the Maldives. In this regard, the President was briefed on the water generation systems to be installed on some islands as a means of tackling the need for clean water.

The President was joined at the call by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dunya Maumoon, Minister at the President’s Office, Hon. Mohamed Hussain Shareef, and Foreign Secretary, Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed.
