Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has today opened the Youth Challenge, Kissaru 2014 fair. The event organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports is being held at the Youth Centre.

Speaking at the function, Vice President Jameel said the Government was ‘serious’ about fulfilling its pledges made to the youth, and overcome the challenges faced by them.

Highlighting the youth comprise the largest population group in the Maldives, the Vice President reiterated the Government’s commitment to create more employment opportunities, as pledged in the manifesto.

Noting that a large number of Maldivian youth were employed in the tourism sector, Vice President called upon the key players of the industry to empower young Maldivians in to high-level positions. He further urged their assistance in facilitating skill development opportunities for the youth.

Underlining the increased number of opportunities opening-up in the economic sector, Vice President Jameel stressed on the important need to build competent youths for the sector.

In his speech, the Vice President also urged the educated Maldivian youths residing and working overseas, to return back to the Maldives.

Continuing in this regard, he expressed assurance that the Government would establish a positive environment in the Maldives, where their career aspirations can be made a reality.
