High Commissioner of Pakistan to the Maldives, His Excellency Mohamed Saeed Khan has paid a courtesy call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. The meeting was held this morning at the President’s Office.
At the meeting, the President and the Pakistani High Commissioner discussed the close bilateral relations that exist between the Maldives and Pakistan. They explored possibilities to strengthen these ties, especially in the areas of health, security, education and sports.
President Yameen conveyed his greetings and good wishes to Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who he highlighted as a long-standing friend and ally of the Maldives. He expressed his gratitude to the Pakistani government for the continuous support and assistance to the Maldives.
The Pakistani High Commissioner congratulated President Yameen on his victory in the presidential elections. He assured the President of Pakistan’s firm commitment to working with President Yameen’s administration. High Commissioner Saeed Khan further expressed confidence that Maldives-Pakistan relations would flourish during President Yameen’s tenure.
President Yameen was joined at the call by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dunya Maumoon, Minister at the President’s Office, Hon. Mohamed Hussain Shareef, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hassan Shifau.
