Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has today visited the Maldives National University and met with the senior management of the institution.
Speaking at the meeting, the Vice President said that capacity building to meet the workforce requirement of the country, and facilitating opportunities for academic advancement of students was of utmost importance to the Government.
In this regard, Vice President underscored the Government’s priority to increase the number of scholarship opportunities for the students.
Underlining the current challenges to societies and families in preparing youth for productive social roles, Vice President Jameel highlighted the Government’s endeavor to increase youth involvement in nation building.
Continuing in this regard, Vice President spoke of the government’s vision to introduce short term professional training programmes for youth in fields such as offshore-financing, managerial economics, banking, accounting, auditing and tourism.
Vice President Jameel further assured that he would continue to work to overcome the challenges faced to the University.
