Ambassador of the United States to the Maldives Michele J. Sison has paid a courtesy call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. The meeting was held this morning at the President’s Office.
Discussions at the meeting were focused on the bilateral relations between the Maldives and the United States, and on ways to further enhance cooperation between both countries.
During the meeting, President Yameen briefed Ambassador Sison on the government’s progress in the delivery of its pledges.
The President also briefed the Ambassador on the challenges that the government was facing in the areas of development. He also explored possibilities of seeking US assistance to the Maldives in areas such as environment, education and health.
Ambassador Sison reassured US’s continuous support and cooperation to the Maldives.
President Yameen was joined at the call by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dunya Maumoon, Ministers at the President’s Office, Hon. Mohamed Hussain Shareef and Hon. Abdulla Ameen, and the Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ali Naseer Mohamed.
