His Excellency Jongmoon Choi, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Maldives, made a courtesy call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, at the President’s Office today.
During the exchange, the President and the Ambassador reviewed the state of the bilateral relations between the two countries. They also explored possibilities of expanding ties between the two countries, especially in the areas of tourism, trade and education.
Ambassador Choi applauded the peaceful and transparent manner in which the recent presidential election in the Maldives was conducted. He also congratulated President Yameen for his election victory.
Highlighting the close bilateral ties that exist between the Maldives and South Korea, the Ambassador thanked the Government of Maldives for the support to South Korea in international forums.
President Yameen briefed the Ambassador on the Government’s efforts to provide services to the people and the strengthen institutions. He also informed the Ambassador about the prospective projects for investments.
President Yameen was joined at the call by Ministers at the President’s Office, Hon. Mohamed Hussain Shareef, Hon. Abdulla Ameen and the Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed.
