Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, Yu Hongyao has paid his farewell call on President Dr Mohamed Waheed today.
At the meeting held at the President’s Office, the President and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of further strengthening these ties.
They also explored possibilities of increasing private sector investments between the two countries.
Ambassador Hongyao said that it was a great pleasure for him to have had the opportunity to serve as his country’s first Ambassador to the Maldives.
At the meeting, President Waheed presented a plaque of appreciation to Ambassador Hongyao in recognition for his profound commitment to enhance the cooperation between the Maldives and China, in particular, for the immense aid received from China in terms of cultural and socio-economic development of the Maldives.
