President Dr Mohamed Waheed has said in his meeting with Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud, he sought for Saudi assistance in procuring a credit facility to alleviate the government fiscal situation. The President made this remark while briefing the media this afternoon regarding his visit to Saudi Arabia.
President Waheed said that Saudi government assured of its assistance to the Maldives in this area.
Speaking at the conference, President underlined that discussions were also held on securing scholarships for Maldivian students to study in Saudi Arabia. He said the Saudi government has offered 50 scholarship opportunities for Maldivian students to study in Saudi Arabia.
At today’s press conference President gave details of his meeting with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, during his transit visit to Dubai.
He said that discussions were held on securing technical assistance from Dubai on areas such as health, financial services, port development and internet and computerisation.
