President Dr Mohamed Waheed has this evening inaugurated the Metro Bus services by the Maldives Transport and Contacting Company (MTCC) at Hulhumale’.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Waheed commended the achievements made by the company in the past 12 months. He said that it brings great happiness to the people to the see the achievements made by a government-owned public company.
Continuing in this regard, the President underscored that the event symbolizes the changes and developments made by MTCC in the past 12 months. He said that the introduction of the internationals standard Metro bus services was a milestone achieved in the country’s transport sector.
In his speech, President Waheed underlined that the company incurred a loss of 69 million in the past 3 years, following the government change in 2008. In this regard he highlighted that the company has made a profit of 24 million in the past 12 months.
President reaffirmed his commitment for the establishment a more efficient and accessible public transport system in the Maldives.
