President Nasheed has this evening inaugurated a workshop on decentralization. The workshop which was aimed at the South-Central Province was held at the Qatar Ameer School.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the President focussed on the importance of decentralisation and its benefits. The President added that the objective of the decentralisation process was to improve the standard of living of the people by improving the delivery of basic services, including electricity, water supply and sewerage system.
Stressing that his government existed only to serve the people, President Nasheed said that his administration would deliver on its pledges to the people and bring a system of government that the people wanted.
Highlighting that the government was seeking joint venture partnership from oversees who will assist in various developmental projects being carried out by the government, the President noted that a number of oversees companies were expressing a firm interest in investing in the Maldives. He added that this was because the policies of the government were accepted by other countries as well.
