President Dr Mohamed Waheed has sent a message of condolence to Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, The Right Honourable David Cameron, following the passing away of Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Baroness Thatcher.
President Waheed’s message to the UK Prime Minister reads as follows.
“It was with great sadness that I learned the passing away of Baroness Thatcher. She was one of the most iconic world leaders of her time, and one who helped to bring irreversible transformations to politics in Britain and elsewhere. Lady Thatcher’s death is a profound loss to Britain, but her remarkable legacy will live on.”
“On behalf of the Government and people of the Maldives, allow me to extend our deepest condolences to the Government and people of the United Kingdom in this hour of sorrow. In particular, our thoughts are with Lady Thatcher’s family, and we pray that they find strength as they mourn this great loss.”
