The Japanese Ambassador to the Maldives Nobuhito Hobo has paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Waheed. The meeting was held this morning at the President’s Office.

Speaking at the meeting, President Waheed briefed the Ambassador on the current political situation in the Maldives. He spoke on the reconstitution of the Commission of National Inquiry, and the progress of its works.

At the meeting, President Waheed and Ambassador Hobo discussed the various economic challenges being faced in the Maldives. Further, Ambassador Hobo enquired on the UNESCO Biosphere reserve established in Baa Atoll, and the success of the Rio+20 conference.

Ambassador Hobo also emphasized the importance of dialogue among all parties, for the political climate of the Maldives to remain calm.
