President Dr Mohamed Waheed has said that his government would give special attention to the islands that had been neglected until now. The President made this remark while addressing the people of Guraidhoo, as part of his current visit to some islands of Thaa Atoll.
Speaking in this regard, the President said that Guraidhoo was also among those overlooked islands.
At the function held this evening, the President noted that the people of Guraidhoo had always put in a lot of hard work for the development of the island, and commended their efforts. He also reiterated that the government would not discriminate among the people, and that everyone would be treated equally.
President Waheed expressed his gratitude to the people of Guraidhoo for their warm welcome and support to the government. In his speech, the President reassured that he would not go back on his oath, and will always stand determined in moving forward with the country. He also said that he would not allow any room for discord in the community.
