President Mohamed Nasheed has sent a message of sympathy to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey following the earthquake that hit the eastern Van region of Turkey yesterday.

It was with deep shock and sadness that I learned about the powerful earthquake that hit the eastern Van region of Turkey, claiming the lives of many people and causing destruction of infrastructure and widespread devastation.
