Norwegian Ambassador to the Maldives Hilde Haraldstad, has paid a farewell call on Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed this evening.

At the meeting, the Vice President briefed on the events planned for, and the preparations underway for the upcoming SAARC Summit to be held in Addu City. He also detailed on the various developmental projects being carried out by the government in Addu City.

Vice President Dr Waheed and Ambassador Haraldstad exchanged ideas on climate change and its undesirable effects to the environment. The Vice President also shared information on the Maldives’ works against climate change, highlighting the government’s goal to transition to renewable energy sources. He pointed out that the shift to renewable energy must not only be regarded as an environmental issue, but the economic element in the matter should as well be stressed on.

Ambassador Haraldstad congratulated the Vice President for the impressive work done by the government to reach full democracy in the Maldives. Further, discussions were held on the mutual relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen the relations.
