The Ambassador to the Maldives, Dr Noureddine Bardad-Daidj has paid his farewell call on President Nasheed this morning.

In the meeting, the President and the Ambassador discussed on the ways of strengthening bilateral relations and on possible areas of cooperation between the Maldives and Algeria. Discussions were also held on the government’s decision to renew relations with Israel.

The President stressed that the Maldives would use the relationship to push for an independent and sovereign Palestinian homeland. He also said that the Maldives called on Israel to conform with the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council.

Dr Bardad-Daidj said that it was a great pleasure to serve the Maldives as his country’s Ambassador to the Maldives. He further commended the President’s efforts to consolidate the principles of democracy and good governance in the Maldives.
