President Mohamed Nasheed has today abolished Community Organisations Development Council and their work has been re-designated to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The mandate of the Community Organisations Development Council included development of organisations, association and clubs; assisting in the growth and progress; and, working towards a broadening of the role of community organizations, and assisting in their enrichment and progress. However, the government believes that a separate office to carry out these work were not necessary as the Ministry of Home Affairs was already carrying out similar tasks.
