Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Dr Fadel Muhammad has paid a courtesy call on President Mohamed Nasheed today at the President’s Official Residence, Mulee-aage.

 
At this morning’s meeting, the President underscored the government’s policy to diversify the Maldives fishing industry to aquaculture and mariculture.
 
Noting that Indonesia was one of world leaders in aquaculture, President Nasheed stressed the importance of promoting relations and cooperation in the field between private sector organizations of both countries.
 
President sought the Minister’s assistance to introduce the Maldivian fishing and aquaculture industries and investment opportunities available in the Maldives for Indonesian companies in these industries.
 
During the meeting, Indonesian Fisheries Minister Dr Muhammad informed the President on the Indonesian aquaculture and fishing industry.
 
He said the Indonesian companies express interest in investing in the Maldivian fishing industry and broadening their production to the Maldives.
