President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has affirmed that the Maldives’s historical legacy stands as a testament to the nation’s centuries of continuous existence and remains one of the principal reasons for its survival as a sovereign state.
He made the remark in a post on his official X account to mark National History Day.
In his message, the President underscored that the preservation and documentation of stories, photographs, and ancient artefacts serve as enduring sources of inspiration and wisdom. He noted that the historical record clearly demonstrates that Maldivians have inhabited these islands for centuries. The President further emphasised that the nation’s rich history provides a firm foundation for future generations to safeguard the country’s autonomy and independence.
The Government continues to implement several initiatives aimed at protecting, preserving and promoting the nation’s heritage.
