His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed the Maldives' commitment to building equitable, inclusive societies where the dignity and rights of every individual are upheld.
In his message marking the World Day of Social Justice, the President affirmed that social justice is not merely an aspiration but a guiding principle that shapes peaceful, resilient, and equitable societies, calling on the global community to renew its collective commitment to empowering inclusion and bridging gaps.
President Dr Muizzu highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen social protections, promote gender equality, foster inclusive growth, and safeguard the rights of vulnerable groups. He noted that the country's membership in the Global Coalition for Social Justice has further reinforced this commitment, enabling global standards to be translated into concrete domestic policies.
The President pointed to new initiatives that have improved access to services, particularly for those requiring targeted support, created opportunities for community engagement and lifelong learning, and strengthened the foundation for evidence-based decision-making through updated standards and regulatory measures.
Expanded housing programmes, improved healthcare services, and equitable economic opportunities that support decent work featured among the priorities he outlined, alongside curriculum enhancements and more flexible learning options to ensure broader access to education.
Concluding his message, the President acknowledged that disparities persist and that the road ahead remains challenging, calling upon all to work toward a world where justice is not merely a promise, but a lived reality for all.
On his official X account, President Dr Muizzu emphasised that social justice means ensuring that people across the Maldives have equitable access to opportunity, dignity, and protection — calling on all to move forward guided by compassion and shared responsibility toward a more sustainable future for all.
The World Day of Social Justice is observed annually on 20 February to promote social fairness and the fight against issues such as poverty, exclusion, and inequality.
