His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed the Administration's commitment to ensuring inclusive and quality education for all, describing education as a fundamental human right and a powerful driver of development.

In a message marking the International Day of Education, the President noted that despite challenges such as climate vulnerability and evolving labour market demands, the Government remains dedicated to holistic education reform that reaches every learner, nationwide.

To this end, the President pointed to tangible progress over the past two years, including more than 6,000 students graduating under the first-degree scheme, over MVR 1 billion disbursed in student loans, and efforts to address teacher shortages through the National Teacher Training Programme.

He emphasised the Administration's focus on inclusivity, including a dedicated national training programme for Special Educational Needs (SEN) teachers, and outlined plans to reshape learning pathways by enhancing vocational education and training, prioritising employability and national certifications.

President Dr Muizzu further noted ongoing efforts to improve education quality through curriculum reform, digital transformation, and international partnerships.

Concluding his message, the President called upon all stakeholders to work together in shaping an education system that empowers every Maldivian and expressed his vision for a sector that builds a stronger youth, not only as learners but as co-creators of education for generations to come.

On his official X account, President Dr Muizzu reiterated that investing in students and expanding educational opportunities goes beyond shaping individual futures to build a more prosperous, equitable and resilient nation.

The International Day of Education is observed annually on 24 January to celebrate the role of education for peace and development.
