His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended greetings to His Excellency Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine, and His Excellency Mohammad Mustafa, Prime Minister of the State of Palestine, on the Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of Palestine.

In his letter to President Abbas, President Dr Muizzu conveyed the heartfelt felicitations of the Government and people of the Maldives. He expressed deep admiration for the Palestinian people's unwavering courage amid oppression and injustice, noting that their resilience stands as a testament to the dignity and enduring legitimacy of their quest for freedom and statehood.

The President reaffirmed the Maldives' steadfast solidarity with Palestine in their just struggle, and reiterated the country’s commitment to advocating for an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He also conveyed confidence that the strong ties between the two nations would continue to prosper.

In his letter to Prime Minister Mustafa, President Dr Muizzu praised the unity and determination of the Palestinian people in the face of adversity. He underscored the Maldives' dedication to supporting peace, security, and justice for Palestine, highlighting the close bonds founded on friendship and mutual values.

The President extended personal wishes for the continued good health and wellbeing of both the President and Prime Minister of the State of Palestine, and for lasting peace and prosperity for the Palestinian people.

On his official X account, President Dr Muizzu reiterated these sentiments and reaffirmed the Maldives’ unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people, urging the international community to intensify efforts towards establishing an independent State of Palestine.
