President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has underscored the importance of responsible and proactive broadcasting, encompassing news, information, and entertainment.
In a message shared on his official X account to mark National Broadcasting Day, the President stated that broadcasters should aim to deliver content that upholds Islamic principles, reflects Maldivian values, and benefits audiences. He also urged broadcasters to contribute actively to efforts that foster national pride.
National Broadcasting Day, observed annually on 4 October, recognises the role of broadcasters in nation-building, strengthening democratic values, raising public awareness, and advancing the sector’s development.
October 4th was designated as the National Broadcasting Day, to mark the occasion when the first broadcast test signal was made on October 4, 1961.
Broadcasting services in the Maldives began on 29 December 1962 with the launch of Dhivehiraajjeyge Adu radio.
