President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the Dhiggaru Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and heads of local institutions today to review the island’s key development priorities. The meeting was held at the Secretariat of the Dhiggaru Council.

During the discussions, the Council requested the Government to expedite the commencement of harbour upgrade works and to extend water, sewerage, and electricity services to the newly reclaimed area. They also emphasised the need for a resident doctor and a sea ambulance service for the island hospital.

The Council further raised concerns about space constraints at the school, requesting additional facilities, and called for the expedited development of the football ground. They also highlighted the lack of an administrative building for Fenaka Corporation staff, stressed the importance of establishing a police station on the island, and conveyed the concerns of the local fishing community.

President Dr Muizzu assured the Council that the Government would give due consideration to their concerns and work towards practical solutions. He also provided updates on the progress of ongoing development projects.
