Following the passing of Hassan Sobir, recipient of the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin (O.D.R.I.) and a public servant who dedicated over 38 years to the nation, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that a Condolence Book will be opened in his honour.
As the late Sobir served the longest period at the Ministry of Tourism, the Condolence Book will be placed at the Ministry of Tourism and Environment. It will be open to the public from Thursday, 31 July to Thursday, 7 August, excluding public holidays, between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. daily.
Sobir, who passed away on Monday, is remembered as a sincere and committed public servant who made valuable contributions to the Maldivian state and its people. He served for many years in key economic sectors, most notably in the development of tourism, where his contributions were instrumental in shaping the industry. He also made significant efforts to promote Maldivian tourism abroad and contributed to strengthening the country’s foreign relations across various areas.
