The President’s Office has today, closed applications for the membership of the Elections Commission, the Anti-Corruption Commission and for the post of Prosecutor General. The opportunity to submit application was opened on 3 June.

A total of 56 applications were submitted for the membership of the Elections Commission and 72 applications were submitted for the membership of the Anti-Corruption Commission, while 2 applications were submitted for the post of Prosecutor General.

Article 290 of the Constitution states that the Elections Commission, the Anti-Corruption Commission and the Prosecutor General should be appointed within sixty days of the first sitting of the first People’s Majlis elected under the current Constitution.

After reviewing the applications, the President will propose names to the People’s Majlis shortly.
