President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed attended a military parade and display by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) on Thursday to commemorate the 58th anniversary of the Maldives’ independence. Upon their arrival at the Republic Square, they were greeted by the Minister of Defence, Uza Mariya Ahmed Didi, the Minister of Home Affairs, Imran Abdulla, and the Chief of Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Abdulla Shamaal.
The military parade and display commenced with a presidential salute, followed by a performance of the National Anthem by the MNDF military band. The event was attended by Vice President Faisal Naseem and senior officials from government offices and institutions, and members of the general public.
