President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih reaffirmed on Wednesday the administration's commitment to enhancing human resources and modernising educational infrastructure. He made the statement while speaking at the award ceremony for the "Top Achievers' Award 2021-2022." First Lady Fazna Ahmed and Vice President Faisal Naseem attended the ceremony in Dharubaaruge.
In his address to the students, President Solih called on students entering secondary and higher secondary education to actively pursue academic disciplines aligned with their inherent competence and aptitude. The President further emphasised the significance of actively enhancing their skills and highlighted each student's responsibility in serving the nation. He also acknowledged that aspiring students have ample opportunities to pursue higher education domestically and internationally.
The President also underscored the significance of establishing modern educational systems and fostering a conducive environment for students, with the ultimate aim of propelling national development and cultivating a productive citizenry.
President Solih also addressed the implementation of comprehensive evaluations and analyses of schools to bolster and enhance the education system. In this context, the President affirmed that the administration is dedicated to supporting schools that need assistance.
During the ceremony, President Solih conferred awards on students who achieved first place in the secondary examinations and recognised top achievers who secured first place worldwide in individual subject categories. The First Lady presented awards to students who earned second place, while the Vice President presented awards to those who achieved third place in their respective examinations.
Out of the 6,360 candidates who took the secondary examinations last year, 844 students achieved a position in the prestigious national top 10 rankings. This includes 11 students ranked in the world's top 10, while six were honoured with the High Achievement Award.
