President Mohamed Nasheed has presented a commemorative plaque to the British Red Cross to mark the completion of their work in the Maldives. The President presented the plaque to the British Red Cross at a meeting held at the President’s Office this morning with the Head of Mission Mr Alastair Burnett and some employees of the British Red Cross in the Maldives.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr Burnett said that the British Red Cross was satisfied with their work in the Maldives. He also thanked the government and the people of the Maldives for their support and assistance. Mr Burnett further noted that the British Red Cross team in the Maldives included many capable Maldivians.

At the meeting, President Nasheed thanked the British Red Cross for their services in the Maldives, and especially noted the work done by the organization to assist the tsunami victims.
