Vice President Faisal Naseem reiterated on Monday the administration’s commitment to promoting vocational education and training. He was speaking at a meeting with the senior management of the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT). The meeting was held at the President’s Office.
At the meeting, the MIT officials shared with the Vice President the challenges it faces and spoke about the growing need for training more people in technical fields. 450 students are currently enrolled at the institution, of which 150 will graduate soon. The institution also accommodates those who need special attention.
The Vice President discussed with the MIT officials ways in which the administration could assist the institution in addressing its challenges. The Vice President also spoke about the importance of vocational education and training, especially for school-leavers, and recognised the institution’s work in the sector.
