Vice President Faisal Naseem has visited the Villimalé district of Male and met with representatives from institutions on the island. The Vice President toured Muhyiddin School, its pre-school campus and Villimalé Hospital, meeting the heads of the institutions.
During his visit to Muhyiddin School and its pre-school campus, the Vice President toured the premises and spoke to some pupils attending school. While speaking with the senior management of the school, Vice President Faisal Naseem highlighted the significant role of educators in honing life skills for students in preparation for their life after school so that they become valuable contributors to society. He acknowledged the prominence attached by the President to the development of the education sector, citing his recent announcement that plans were underway for salary and allowance increments focussed on the education sector. He also highlighted meaningful advancements to the sector through the introduction of TeleKilaas, an award-winning initiative launched by the government after schools were forced to close due to the covid-19 pandemic, Inclusive Education, SEN classes and other initiatives launched for the progress of the sector.
At the meeting, senior officials of the school management shared their plans for the progress of the school and relayed their concerns to the Vice President, which he stated would be passed to the relevant authorities at the earliest to find solutions.
The Vice President also later visited and met with the senior management and staff of Villimalé Hospital. The hospital management shared challenges and concerns regarding the functioning of the hospital, especially the difficulty faced by the hospital in delivering its services due to space constraints. Vice President Faisal Naseem also toured the facilities of Villimalé Ferry Terminal and briefly conversed with the staff.
On his trip to Villimale, the Vice President was accompanied by the Minister of Education, Dr Aishath Ali, Special Advisor on Social Policy, Dr Musthafa Lutfi, Minister at the President’s Office, Ahmed Sameer, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Adam Azim, and senior officials from the Ministry of Education.
