The National Awards Committee has announced on the Maldives Government Gazette that they are now accepting nominations for the 'President's National Award for Special Achievement'.

Individuals who wish to nominate a candidate for the prize categories may submit applications before the end of the workday on Sunday, 15th September 2019. The prizes for this year will be awarded in 3 categories.

Winners from the first category will be individuals who have performed exceptionally well in the field of higher education and training. These awards are conferred upon individuals who have completed education certificates equivalent to MQA ranking levels of 7, 8, 9 and 10 with a grade point average of 85% or higher, or completed a research topic or dissertation with exceptional distinction.

One important change from previous years is that in determining qualifications levels, the committee will defer to the grading categories defined by the relevant institutions from which the individuals received their certificates.

The second category is individuals who did exceptionally well or achieved the highest rank in an international competition or exhibition.

The third prize category pertains to individuals have created effective solutions to pressing national issues through their innovation and research.

An information session led by the National Awards Council has been scheduled, and any individuals who wish to participate in the session can forward their names by contacting the President’s Office.

The nomination forms for the President's National Award for Special Recognition are available at the President’s Office during official working hours or for download on the President’s Office’s website (www.presidencymaldives.gov.mv)

The Awards for this year will be presented at the special ceremony held on National Day 2019.
