His Excellency  Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, President of the Republic of Maldives, has met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius, His Excellency  Pravind Jugnauth.

This meeting occurred as part of President Solih's ongoing official visit to Mauritius, immediately following the President's meeting with the Mauritian Acting President, His Excellency Paramasivum Pillay Barlen Vyapoory.

The conversation between the President and the Prime Minister reiterated the same sentiments expressed in the former's prior meeting with the Acting President. They illuminated the many shared concerns between our two island nations and emphasized the necessity of increasing our cooperation in all fields of mutual interest, especially on climate change and maritime issues.

The President thanked the Prime Minister for the excellent level of hospitality accorded to himself and his delegation by the Mauritanian government during his visit. Further, he remarked on his delight that he was invited to visit the country during the ongoing Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) and witness its many sporting events.

Both leaders noted that one of the underlying goals of the IOIG is to improve relations between the island nations of the Indian Ocean by creating an atmosphere of good-natured and friendly sporting competition. They noted that island nations such as ours should always remain mindful of the mutual challenges we face and aspire to speak with a collective voice.

The President and Prime Minister wished each other well and expressed their optimism that the bilateral relations between our two countries will continue to prosper.
