President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has sent a message of congratulations to the President of the European Commission, Her Excellency Ursula von der Leyen upon being elected as the President of the European Commission.
The President’s message reads as follows:
“I extend warm congratulations and good wishes to you on your election as the President of the European Commission.
The Maldives and the European Union have had enduring relations underscored by good-will and friendship. The Government and the people of Maldives join me in expressing our sincere appreciation for the valuable contributions made by the European Union for the socio-economic and sustainable development of the Maldives.
I look forward to working closely with Your Excellency towards enhancing our current levels of cooperation and am confident that under your able leadership, we can explore new avenues of mutual interest to find solutions to shared challenges.
I wish you strength and resolve in fulfilling the responsibilities of your high office.”
