President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Vice President Faisal Naseem have met with members of the Addu City Council. The meeting was held at the President’s Office this morning.

During the meeting, members of the Addu City Council congratulated President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Vice President Faisal Naseem on assumption of Office.

At the meeting, members of the Addu City Council briefed President Solih on the current developmental challenges being faced, and future development plans for Addu City, especially noting the importance of establishing public service facilities in the city. 

Moreover, members of the Addu City Council emphasized the importance of a strong decentralized system of governance, with empowered councils. Further discussions were held on establishing clean drinking water and sewerage system, proper electricity services, road development, and education system in Addu City. The council members also expressed their confidence that President Solih’s administration will work closely with the public.

Speaking during the meeting, President Solih briefed the council members on his administration’s policy that targets a number of development projects in Addu City. He also assured that the administration will put in every effort to resolve the issues currently being faced, and emphasized the high priority given by the administration on further strengthening the decentralization system and empowering councils, by revising the relevant policies.

Along with the President and the Vice President some members of the Parliament attended the meeting.
