President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has, during an event held at Dharubaaruge this morning, awarded employment opportunities to 157 persons with disabilities at several state owned companies. First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim accompanied the President at the event.

Eighteen companies participated in the Administration driven policy initiative; ensuring equal access and further encouraging participation in the national workforce.

The initial 157 individuals will be posted across different companies in different regions throughout the country.

With the Administration’s “No Child Left Behind” education policy focusing on inclusivity, students with disabilities are already a focus of equal opportunity.

The President and First Lady were accompanied at today’s event by Minister of Gender and Family Ms. Aminath Zenysha Shaheed Zaki, Cabinet Ministers and members of the Peoples Majlis.
