The President H.E. Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom met with the Prime Minister of Malaysia H.E. Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, this morning, at the side-lines of the United Malays National Organization (UMNO) General Assembly held at the Putrajaya World Trade Centre.
During the meeting, the President and the Prime Minister discussed on exploring avenues of greater cooperation to elevate the long existing ties of friendship and collaboration between Maldives and Malaysia. The President also expressed his confidence in the continued engagement and assistance from Malaysia, and that the two countries would further strengthen the brotherly relations in the years to come.
The President was accompanied at the meeting by H.E. Moosa Zameer, Minister of Tourism, M.P Hon. Abdul Raheem Abdulla, M.P Dr. Abdulla Khaleel and H.E. Mohamed Fahumy Hassan, Ambassador of Maldives to Malaysia.
Prior to the meeting with the Prime Minister, the President attended the inaugural ceremony of the UMNO General Assembly. This ceremony was also held at the Putrajaya World Trade Centre.
