President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has officially inaugurated the Commercial Bank of Maldives (CBM) during a ceremony held this morning at Hotel Jen. CBM is a newly established joint venture between Tree Top Investments Pvt Ltd and the Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC.
During the inauguration, the bank’s Chairman Mr. Hussain Afeef presented President Yameen with a commemorative plaque. Additionally, the first five account holders of the bank were given their confirmation letters.
The Governor of the Maldives Monetary Authority Dr. Azeema Adam, Chairman of CBM Mr Hussain Afeef, Chairman of Tree Top Investments Pvt Ltd Mr. Lars Petre and CEO, and Managing Director, of the Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC Mr. Jegan Durairatnam addressed the ceremony.
Members of the cabinet as well as several members of the financial community also attended the inauguration.
