President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom extended greetings and well wishes to the people of the Maldives and Hajj pilgrims on the auspicious occasion of Eid ul-Al’haa.‎

In his message, the President noted that Eid ul-Al’haa ‎was a time to strengthen unity and solidarity, by cooperating and one of ‎showing compassion to one another.‎ He highlighted that the Hajj pilgrimage encouraged ‎harmonious, ties of family and friendship amongst Muslims and that it was an opportunity to revitalise such bonds.

President Yameen noted with regret, the efforts of a few, assisted by outside parties with vested interests, to defame the country, spread rumours and threaten the legitimately elected government of the country. The President reflected that such actions of a few are likely to bring immense losses to our economy and our people while also threatening to destroy our long standing social harmony, peace and unity.

In his message, President Yameen reiterated his administration’s focus towards fulfilling its pledges. Several successes and development have been realised thus far he said going on to reassure the public that, no matter the internal and external challenges, his administration would continue developments without delays.
