President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom reminded all school children to keep in mind that each of them played an important role in community development. The President made the remark while speaking at the O’ Level Top Achievers’ Awards 2015, held this evening.
In his speech, the President appealed to all school leavers to be positive role models to society. He also said the nation expected students to always carry the torch of aspiration and education, forward through future generations.
Speaking at the function, the President underscored three important lessons for all students - to determine one’s best skills; to always aim for success; and to adapt their knowledge to the real world in a manner beneficial to society.
President Yameen further called on everyone to always show respect towards each other, reminding those present that respect was a two-way street.
At the function held this evening, President Yameen awarded the President’s Prize, Ministry of Education’s Trophy and certificate to those who attained the “A” grade in all 8 subjects in the O’ Level Exams.
