President Mohamed Nasheed has returned to Male' cutting short his official visit to Sri Lanka following the passing away of father of First Lady Laila Ali. Mr Ali Abdulla passed away early this morning at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
President Nasheed attended Late Ali Abdulla's funeral held this afternoon.
The President made the visit to Sri Lanka to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa for a second term in office.
Before departing Colombo, the President attended President Rajapaksa's swearing-in ceremony held this morning.
